This new and revolutionary system will definitely make things easier. A new European visa system allows, by aids of biometric technology (digital facial image and fingerprints), to simplify the identification process in borders and will contribute to fight identity theft and fraud.
The visa scheme enables a short-time data exchange among Schengen countries. The Visa Information System (VIS) will give more credibility to this visa checking process. The first consular posts to be using this methodology will be Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia.
Foreigners who visit the US will benefit from this system when they get the visas and do the checking process. Fingerprint and face images data will be collected and stored within a period of five years, after that, data will be erased for the purpose of confidentiality. The good thing is that when people need a new visa this data will not be collected again but copied from their last VIS.
