The security systems in Airports have certain specifications in order to satisfy the infrastructure requirements. For this reason, these systems must have continuous upgrades for the better control of the personal in the Airport. In this case, the Los Angeles World Airports, an operation center for the airport inLos Angeles, is going to pass through an upgrade on the access control and alarm monitoring systems.

The upgrade will be in charge of the security company Unisys. The systems used in these airports identify 45,000 employees, contractors, police and other people related to the organization. For this reason, the changes in the security control systems will cost about $10.3 million and they will take one year for the installation, including the airport’s network infrastructure.

The previous security systems in the Los Angeles World Airports were based on smart cards with magnetic stripe. The modification will replace these cards with contactless cards that are more secure and economic than the previous ones. Also, the airport officers chose to not use the PIV-I specification for the employees access, instead, Unisys will install biometric-based identifications systems.
